Data Deletion Request for BudgetZen

At BudgetZen, we respect your privacy and provide full control over your data. In compliance with Google Play's Data Safety policies, we offer multiple ways to delete your account and all associated data.

How to delete your account and data

Method 1: In-App Deletion (Instant & Automated)

The fastest and most secure way to delete your data is directly within the BudgetZen app:

1. Open the BudgetZen app.
2. Navigate to Settings (Preferences icon).
3. Scroll down to the Danger Zone section.
4. Tap Delete Account.
5. Type DELETE to confirm and permanently wipe your records.

Method 2: Online Request (Manual)

If you no longer have the app installed and wish to request deletion of your data, please follow these steps:

1. Send an email to budgetzen.dev@gmail.com.
2. Use the subject line: Account Deletion Request.
3. Important: You must send the email from the same email address you used to register your account.
4. We will verify your identity and process the deletion within 7 business days.

What data is deleted or kept?

Data that is permanently deleted:

When you perform an account deletion, the following categories of data are purged from our live systems and cleared from our databases:

• Authentication Data: Your email address, password hashes, and user ID.
• Financial Records: Every transaction (income, expense, transfer) you have recorded.
• Account Structures: All financial accounts and custom categories you created.
• Budgeting Info: All budget goals, limits, and historical performance data.

Data Retention and Backups:

• Backups: Data removed from our live databases may persist in our encrypted administrative backups for up to 30 days before being completely overwritten.
• Anonymized Logs: We may retain anonymized, non-identifiable technical metadata (such as app version logs or crash reports) for up to 7 days to help us improve app stability. This data cannot be linked back to you.
